Theirs is a love that is loudly celebrated by style-obsessed rappers who rhyme about their sartorial swagger any chance they get. ; Whether it’s Jay Z proclaiming that “I don’t pop Molly, I rock Tom Ford” or Lil’ Kim shouting ;”D-K-N-Y oh my, I’m jiggy, it’s about the clique Junior Mafia and Biggie” — there are countless songs laced with fashion designers’ names. ;ASAP Rocky gives a shoutout to no less than 17 fashion brands in his “Fashion Killa” song. ; And it goes beyond just name dropping. Some artists have hijacked entire labels for the title of their tunes — like “Tom Ford” by Jay Z, “Versace” by Migos, “My Adidas”…

With that said, the folks over at “M,” the new site brought to you by Macy’s, decided to do some inventory on rap’s love affair with fashion and created a few fascinating charts ;(based on data gathered through August 2015). ;

They found that Gucci topped the “10 Most-Mentioned Fashion Brands In Hip Hop” chart. Versace and Prada round out the other high-end brands that made the list. But it’s Nike’s prowess as the world’s biggest — and the most Instagrammed ;–athletic/streetwear brand that snagged the second-place spot on the chart. ;

And when it comest to the actual rappers who are doing most of this name-dropping, the crown goes to Soulja Boy. But the “Pretty Boy Swag” rapper is joined by a list of musicians — including Jay Z, Lil’ Wayne, Nas, and Future. ;
