Police announced Tuesday that they have arrested a suspect in the drive-by shooting death of Armoni Sexton, a high school basketball player killed early Saturday night in Paterson, N.J. Paterson Mayor Jose “Joey” Torres told The Paterson Press on Monday that the gunman opened fire in response to an earlier shooting, part of an ongoing conflict between groups of the city’s young male residents.
Despite being a freshman, Sexton started on the basketball team at Paterson Charter School For Science and Technology where scouts drooled over his abilities.
College basketball star Anthony Towns of the Kentucky Wildcats lamented Sexton’s death on Twitter:
