South Carolina lawmakers voted to ban the flag from the Capitol grounds after a shooting at a historic black church that left nine people dead. Gov. Nikki Haley (R-S.C.) signed the bill into law on Thursday.
The flag had flown at a Confederate memorial on the South Carolina Capitol grounds since 2000, when it was removed from its perch atop the statehouse.
