Three players from English Premier League club Leicester City were sent home to the U.K. from Thailand on Sunday after a racist sex video in which they appeared was leaked on the Internet over the weekend.

Leicester City announced in a statement on Monday that, along with bringing Tom Hopper, James Pearson and Adam Smith back into the team’s home country, the club would conduct an internal investigation into their conduct.

During the team’s trip overseas, three players filmed themselves engaging in an orgy with multiple prostitutes. In the graphic video, the players can be heard hurling racial epithets and demeaning comments at the women, laughing away their insults and disparaging behavior. The Sunday Mirror reported on Saturday that Hopper, Pearson and Smith had been identified as the three footballers seen in the video.

Leicester City, after securing a place in next season’s Premier League, have been celebrating the end of their season in Thailand, the home country of team owners Vichai and Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha.

Read the entire statement:

The Board of Leicester City Football Club is deeply concerned about an incident involving three of our young professionals during a recent trip to Thailand. Our players at every level are expected to behave as representatives and ambassadors for our Football Club, both on official Club duty and in their personal lives, so we treat their conduct extremely seriously.

Following a preliminary meeting in consultation with the three players earlier today, the players involved in the incident are now returning to the U.K., in advance of the rest of the squad.

Tom Hopper, James Pearson and Adam Smith would like to convey their sincere apologies for their behaviour — to the women involved in the incident, to the Club and its owners, to the Club’s fans and to their families.

A formal process of investigation will be undertaken with the players in conjunction with their representatives and, as such, no further comment can be made at this stage.

Leicester City remains wholly committed to promoting equality in football and in wider society and to our players recognising their responsibilities as role models to young people.

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has yet to comment on the revelations. His own son, James, is among the disgraced trio.

The rest of the team remains on holiday in Thailand.
