A photo captured the moment several Dutch Bros. coffee employees leaned out to pray with a grieving widow.
A recent widow was in a drive-thru coffee line at Dutch Bros. Coffee when she began to fall apart. The workers at the Washington coffee shop gave her coffee for free and then offered to pray for her. A driver witnessed the scene and posted a photo to Facebook that has now gone viral.
“Snapped this picture while waiting in line at the Dutch Bros on 138th Avenue today,” Barbara Danner wrote, KPTV reports.
“Turns out the young lady in line ahead of us lost her 37-year-old husband last night. When the DB guys & gals noticed she was falling apart, they stopped everything and prayed with her for several minutes, invited her to come back for prayer and support, as well as anything else that she might need.”
Evan Freeman was one of the baristas who waited on the grieving widow told the news station that he and his co-workers didn’t think twice about offering their condolences, because its what they do.
“She’s just having a really bad day. Her husband passed,” Freeman said. “And as soon as she said that, I was like, ‘There’s nothing more you need to say. We got this. We’re going to do what we do every time we get someone who’s in pain or hurt. We’re going to give them our love,'” he told KPTV.
Freeman gave her a free coffee and Pierce Dunn, a co-worker, asked if they could pray for her and her family.
“So basically, I just said, like, you know I really want her to have peace over the situation… help the mourning of her and her family,” Dunn told KPTV.
Owner Jessica Chudek told the news station that when she realized it was her store and her employees in the photo she was moved to tears. was proud of her employees when she saw the picture online.
“When I saw the picture, I’m like, ‘This is a normal day at work. We’re doing what we do every day,'” Freeman said.
“If every single person did an act of kindness or just had smile on their face, the world would be a completely different place,” Dunn said.
