As many as five people with guns stormed a home in Los Angeles this week belonging to the Washington NFL team’s wide receiver, DeSean Jackson.
About six people who were inside the house fought off “four or five” attackers, with one person sustaining minor injuries from being pistol-whipped, according to TMZ Sports, which first reported the attack. The news outlet, citing unnamed law enforcement sources, said investigators believe the crime was gang-related. No one has been arrested.
Jackson’s agent, Denise White, confirmed the home invasion to The Huffington Post, and sought to distance Jackson from the crime.
“DeSean is currently in Virginia with the Redskins,” said White. “He had no knowledge of the incident until a phone call last evening. It’s a legal matter which is in the hands of law enforcement. We will wait for their full investigation.”

The Washington team’s coach, Jay Gruden, weighed in on Twitter, saying, “He’ll get to the bottom of it, as will the police, and we’ll go from there.”
Jackson’s home in South Philadelphia was burglarized in 2014, when he played for the Philadelphia Eagles. Thieves made off with more than $250,000 in cash and jewelry, and a handgun, reports The Associated Press.
The Eagles released Jackson after that season, likely due to what NJ.com reports was his “continued association with reputed Los Angeles street gang members.”
In an interview with ESPN following his release, Jackson denied he’s ever been in a gang. He did, however, acknowledge he’s known people in gangs and has associated with them from time to time.
