Lil Kim and her mini me, Royal Reign, attended the 6th annual Pow(H)er Awards, where the legendary rapper received the Pow(H)er Woman of the Year award. Hosted at The Dream Hotel in New York City, the swanky event highlighted change makers from various industries who are making a difference in the world.
Lil Kim and Royal Reign are a dynamic fashion duo at the 6th annual Pow(H)er Awards
Lil Kim, who has made a huge cultural impact in music and fashion, celebrated the honor with 10-year-old daughter Royal Reign. Johnny Nunez captured the two as they entered the event, with the “Crush on You” rapper decked out in a pink Emilio Pucci stretch jersey jumpsuit. She paired the look with a patching scarf wrapped on her head, oversized sunglasses, and black platform boots.
Royal wore a pair a baggy blue jeans, a Telfar T-shirt, pink Telfar bag, and a pair of quirky stuffed animal boots.
This is a well-deserved honor for Lil Kim, who contributed 30 years of her life to the music and entertainment industry. The rapper released her debut studio album, Hard Core, in 1996, which went double platinum in 2001. The album has sold over six million copies worldwide and continues to heavily influence today’s artists.
The Bedstuy native was one of the first artists to show the duality of women rappers, proving you can be a sexy lyricist competing in a male-dominated industry. Lil Kim’s raunchy lyrics sparked a movement that allowed women to step out of their reserved nature and embrace sexual liberation. She walked so that artists like Saweetie, Megan thee Stallion, and Sexy Redd could run.
We couldn’t think of another artist more deserving of this honor. And we love that she brought Royal Reign along to witness the impact her mom made and continues to make on the music industry.
