Can You Spot What’s Wrong With The Memphis Grizzlies’ Valentine’s Day Graphic?

In a stunning lapse of judgment, the Memphis Grizzlies blasted out a Valentine’s Day graphic featuring the controversial Matt Barnes quite literally smelling the roses.

“Love is always the answer,” it proclaims. Really what we learned from this tweet is that Memphis as a franchise needs to be the one to wake up, take a whiff of those roses and get a much-needed reality check.

Because how in the world did it choose Matt Barnes to be its spokesman for love?

This is the same Matt Barnes who made headlines this fall for stomping into his ex-wife Gloria Govan’s home and sparking a fistfight between himself and former teammate Derek Fisher, who had begun dating Govan. This is the same Matt Barnes who used violence to assert that Govan was his property, his woman, his his his — and that he could claim his ownership over her with a powerful right fist or a quick, low jab. And this is the same Matt Barnes who has been unapologetic about these actions day in and day out throughout the 2015-2016 NBA season.

So maybe next time the Grizzles should think twice about picking Barnes as the poster boy for all things romantic. Because until he rethinks this notion of territorial rights in the dating landscape, he really doesn’t have any “answers” for us about the mysteries of love.
