While promoting her newly released album “Calling All Lovers,” Braxton appeared on “The Wendy Williams Show” last Thursday, discussing the subject matter of the album and why she was inspired to address past relationships with the project.

“I didn’t just wake up one day and just meet the love of my life. It didn’t happen like that,” she continued. “I kissed old gruesome frogs and all the monsters and stuff. So it was important for me to talk about it. And really honestly Wendy, I didn’t know that there was a lot I needed to let go.”

The 38-year-old singer went on to add how much she has matured in recent years — citing her current relationship with husband Vincent Hubert and accepting negative experiences in past relationships as part of that process.

“I feel like I kind of started to grow up in the past few years, and so I feel like it’s about accepting and knowing your past,” she said. “A lot of people may be like, ‘Oh my God, Tamar, we don’t want to hear another song about Vincent Herbert,’ and that’s great, fine and dandy — I am in love and I’m really happy, but there is a story behind Tamar.” ;

On the heels of ;“Calling All Lovers,” Braxton is also set join Mary J. Blige for a 12-date U.S. tour — beginning October 30 in Augusta, Georgia, and concluding November 15 in Mashantucket, Connecticut. ; ;
