“I was just motivated. I had to get out there … At that point, I wasn’t an artist, I wasn’t a musician or anything. I was just a man. A black man in this country,” he told host Marc Lamont HIll. “We’re not going to stand by with this anymore. We’re not just going to be angry, we’re going to be active. We have all the portals to do so. We’re pooling our resources. We are just tired of it.”
