The mother of a 15-year-old pregnant teen attacked by several students at her Memphis, Tenn., high school told WREG it wasn’t the first time her daughter had been assaulted.

A Tennessee mother is outraged after her 15-year-old daughter, who is four months pregnant, was attacked at school and reportedly kicked in the stomach.
“I’ve talked to several administrators up here, and I’ve told them what happened and they’re like, ‘Oh, we’ll work it out’ or ‘We’ll get it fixed’ and nothing has happened,” the teen’s mother, who was not identified, told WREG.
“As a mother, you want to protect your children. But my child’s not safe at school, she’s not safe on the bus, what do I do?”
Video of the incident, which occurred Monday, was posted on social media and shows at least four young women attacking the pregnant teen inside Trezevant High School in Memphis, Tenn.
“They was holding me down. It took them forever to get her up off of me, and then she kicked me in my stomach,” said the girl, whom WREG is not identifying.
According to the news station, the teen was taken to a local hospital with injuries to her head and back. Her mother says that the attack wasn’t the first time something like this had happened.
“Several boys been trying to fight her,” her mother said. “A boy been trying to get his girlfriend to fight her all year. I’ve been up here constantly.”
Her mother added that just last week, two boys attacked her daughter on the school bus and that since December, the teen has been attacked on and off school premises. The mother said that she has spoken with the school about the altercations, but that each time, nothing has been done.
The teen told WREG that a teacher was present during Monday’s attack, but did nothing to stop it.
“She wasn’t doing nothing,” she said. “She was just standing right there.”
Shelby County Schools officials told WREG Tuesday morning that they were looking into the incident.
“We take all allegations that relate to student safety very seriously and are investigating these claims,” an emailed statement read.
