The manager, Cortez Bryant, confirmed to TMZ that the rapper is partnering to release new music with Tidal, the streaming service partly owned by Jay Z. Lil Wayne has been public about his issues with his current record label, Cash Money Records. In December 2014, following the delay of his 11th studio album, “Tha Carter V,” the 32-year-old Grammy winner tweeted that he was a “prisoner” to the label and wants “off this label and nothing to do with these people.” Cash Money’s CEO is Lil Wayne’s longtime friend and fellow rapper Birdman.
In January 2015, Lil Wayne dropped a mixtape, “Sorry 4 the Wait 2.” “Tha Carter V” is yet to be released.
