West Michigan teen Noel Ramos has two college degrees and hasn’t even graduated from high school.

“I was just taking college classes the first semester. Like, I didn’t plan on graduating at all,” Noel, a sophomore at Gull Lake High School who began her college career at age 13, told WWMT.

Noel, now 15, entered college by taking a few classes at Kellogg Community College.

“Then my mom started looking into [it] and she was like, ‘Wait a second, you like taking these classes. You might as well just like get your degree.’ I’m like, ‘Oh my goodness, that’s such a good idea,’ ” said Noel.

Now Noel is preparing for her junior year of high school in the fall and her college graduation on Thursday. She has not one, but two, associate degrees.

“The first one is general studies, and then we were looking at the other degree programs and we found out that to get your art degree, it’s only a couple of extra classes. And I like art; I’m not going into the art field, but I like art, so I was like, ‘Oh yeah, might as well get that, too,’ ” said Noel.

Now the teen is weighing her options, deciding whether she should take more college courses, a feat that may prove difficult because she can’t get any financial aid, since she’s not a high school graduate. That’s fine with Gull Lake counselor Jodee Stanton, who wants to see Noel enjoy her final years in high school.

“She’s accomplished so much in ninth and 10th grade, and now it’s just enjoying the ride for junior and senior year,” Stanton told the news station.

Noel will graduate from high school in 2018.
