Kobe Bryant has expressed in the past that he doesn’t much care much for friends and is fairly unconcerned with how he is perceived by the public, and sometimes his teammates. He demonstrated that indifference in a recent profile for HBO’s “Real Sports.”
A portion of the piece has correspondent Andrea Kremer listing off ways other people describe him and some, if not all these adjectives, could be used to describe someone who might be a sociopath.
Look at Bryant casually applying lip balm and laughing while hearing Kremer talk about how people think that he is a madman.
“Loner, selfish, single-minded, arrogant, aloof, relentless, obsessed, ruthless. And your own teammate, Steve Nash, when asked to describe you in three words: quote, ‘motherf***king asshole,'” Kremer said like she was reading off a grocery list.
The Lakers star has been infamously quoted as saying, “Friends come and go but banners hang forever.”
Considering his career and how successful he’s been, this method of operation worked pretty well after all.
