COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A freelance journalist is fighting an order telling her to share how she obtained the diary belonging to the widow of soul singer James Brown. Attorney Jay Bender says he has asked the South Carolina Supreme Court to stop a Monday afternoon hearing because it would violate the shield law that protects reporters from revealing sources. Bender says he hasn’t heard back from the justices, so he was heading to Aiken County for the hearing along with reporter Sue Summer.
