When life coach Iyanla Vanzant first met Evelyn Lozada in 2012, the “Basketball Wives” star was in the midst of a personal crisis. She had recently married NFL player Chad Ochocinco Johnson, but life for the newlyweds was far from bliss. After 38 days of marriage, Lozada says he attacked and head-butted her during an argument, leaving her to require stitches in her forehead. ;She opened up to Vanzant about the abuse and her emotional decision to file for divorce ;during a two-part episode of OWN’s series “Iyanla: Fix My Life.”

It’s been three years since the women first met, and Vanzant wants to see how Lozada’s life has evolved. In the above clip from the upcoming episode of “Livin’ Lozada,” ;Vanzant asks Lozada about her relationship with professional baseball player Carl Crawford.

“He’s a good guy,” Lozada says, beaming. “We respect each other, we don’t curse each other out.”

“I’ve never been in a relationship like that,” she admits.

When Vanzant asks about Crawford’s relationship with his mother, Lozada is happy to report that they have a great relationship. “I really like her, too,” Lozada says. “I think this is the first mother-in-law that likes me!” ;

The couple now lives in Los Angeles together with their 1-year-old son, Leo. Lozada recalls that the first time Crawford reached out to her, she had trouble understanding his Texas accent. “So I was like, ‘What? What are you saying?” Lozada laughs. “But then I was like, this guy has big cojones to want to talk to me. He’s very private, never dated anyone, per se, in the limelight at all. He’s just been very to himself and very focused on what he does.”

Lozada, on the other hand, is no stranger to spotlight. “So I always say, ‘Poor guy.’ Before me, you would Google him, it was just his stats and stuff. And then now it’s all this crap with me,” she says with a smile.

“Livin’ Lozada” ;airs Saturdays at 9 p.m. ET on OWN.
